About NCTDP

The NATO Counter-terrorism Technology Development Programme (NCTDP) is a newly-established NATO initiative with the main objective of rapidly identifying emerging technological solutions to NATO's most pressing counter-terrorism technology needs. The programme is currently led by the NATO Defence Investment Division (DI), in collaboration with the NATO C3 Agency (NC3A), and aims to draw out innovative technological solutions in the Alliance's efforts against terrorism through the solicitation of technology proposals from members of academia, government laboratories, industry and so-called 'non-traditional' sources.

Through this methodology, NCTDP's focus is on raising visibility into emerging combating terrorism technologies, and on enhancing national and multi-national partnerships across the Alliance. NCTDP's immediate focus will be to address shortfalls and capability gaps arising from within the Defence Against Terrorism Programme of Work (DAT PoW). For more information, please refer to the following website: http://www.nato.int/issues/dat/index.html.

The programme thus provides a unique platform, via the current NCTDP Web Portal, for NATO nations to reach out to the private-sector who may have something to offer in the fight against terrorism. NCTDP goals are also augmented by the regular conduct of outreach activities, as well as real-life operational events such as combating terrorism technology demonstrations (see below). By leveraging the work and diverse expertise of NATO Staff and other specialised NATO bodies, the programme provides a robust forum through which NATO nations and members of the private-sector can engage in defining potential areas of mutual collaboration. To this end, NCTDP provides NATO and its member nations with a new ability to strengthen partnerships with members of industry, academic institutions, government, and private laboratories in identifiying the counter-terrorism technologies that we need today.
